Alternate Assessment Validity Evaluation Planning

edCount has helped the state education agencies (SEAs) in the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands develop plans for evaluating the validity of their alternate assessments based on alternate achievement standards (AA-AAS).

For this work, edCount consults with a state agency to develop an interpretive argument for the validity of the alternate assessment they administer to students with significant cognitive disabilities. Once this argument has been articulated to the state's satisfaction, edCount helps the state develop validity evaluation plans where they identify and prioritize specific studies that will evaluate the assessment, produce evidence to support the interpretive argument, and provide meaningful information that could be used to further improve the AA-AAS.
