Madeline Jane Welch, B.A. is a Research Assistant at edCount, LLC, where she provides support to associates and senior staff in the execution of project tasks, research activities, report production, and proposal development. Ms. Welch’s current projects at edCount include: assistance with data analysis and report production for Louisiana’s statewide alternate assessment system for ELA, math, and science, and technical support for the Strengthening Claims-based Interpretations and Uses of Local and Large-scale Assessment Scores (SCILLSS), a project funded by the US Department of Education.

Ms. Welch received a B.A. in Religious Studies and Sociology from the College of Charleston in 2016. During her undergraduate studies, Ms. Welch interned at the Charleston Interreligious Council where she helped plan and run interfaith events in the Charleston area, and worked as a youth advisor and world religions teacher to high schoolers at Charleston’s Unitarian Universalist Church. After graduating, Ms. Welch supported teachers in the International Affairs Department at the American Federation of Teachers, where she led a human rights curriculum development workshop for AFT high school teachers. In 2017, Ms. Welch was awarded a Fulbright-Nehru English Teaching Assistant grant and taught English to over 300 grade nine students at a government minority school in New Delhi, India. Ms. Welch joined edCount in October 2018.
