Charlotte, N.C.—The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system (CMS) has selected edCount, LLC to assist them in the development of a series of tests designed to assess the school district’s Advanced Placement (AP) programs and other high school courses.

To complete this work, edCount will be creating a combination of item style guides, assessment blueprints, multiple choice and constructed response items, Spanish and French audio items and vignettes for 43 courses offered within the CMS district.

“edCount looks forward to supporting the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system and development of tools that will help it collect meaningful, valid data to support its decision-making process,” said Ellen Forte, president and founder of edCount. “We hope the information collected from these assessments will improve the education experiences of teachers and students alike within the district. These assessments will be used by CMS to measure the success of instruction in individual courses and the overall success of the AP program within the district; they will be used to evaluate student performance. Based on information collected from these assessments, CMS will be able to make adjustments and modifications to ensure its secondary programs are optimally configured to meet student needs for further study beyond high school.
